Biochar stoves and making the planet better

I’ve just spent a few days at the Green Gathering festival helping Ed Revill demonstrate his gasifying stoves which make biochar for soil improvement and carbon capture stoves. The latest design is  intended to go into a normal house and will provide hot water, heating and cooking all from a small bundle of twigs, coppice or scrap palettes and some wood-chip. The wood-chip is pyrolized – releasing the wood gas as a fuel to make a very clean and efficient burn.   It hasn’t got the certification for domestic heating systems, but I am seriously thinking of commissioning one to help reverse my carbon footprint.
